This is the case from the finals of last year's competition. We're going to show you how to do a little bit of it. That would be the LeBron of except the author wanted to write a case for the 40th anniversary of Excel. And so he said, well, what could you say would still be easier to do on paper than in Excel? That's origami. So the challenge is if you fold it left to right and just, you know, keep the bit that's on top each time until you get down to a strip of four columns, which number is or it's like the sum of the numbers that are left on top. Let's say take from. This array the 1st 128 columns and then you can get let's say a sequence of 128 across and then you can. Sort the big array man by the little array in descending order. And how did he get into this? 10 years ago, one of my former colleagues sent me an e-mail saying, hey, did you know there are Excel competitions? I said no, but that sounds good. Yeah. I had been the sort of go to Excel guy in my office for a while. I always remember, like the first sort of Excel maestro I ever came across was it was just crazy. It was like watching a piano player, like practicing. Scales watching me do the kind of keyboard shortcuts. Yeah. There's some connection there. That sense of empowerment of what 1 can do. The first program you write or the first spreadsheet you create. You always remember when you feel great. Do you do you kind of have that sense as well? Yeah. Yeah, I do. I mean, I don't have the specialized to or I don't have access to this or whatever, but I have the data, I have Excel and I can do something with it. Yeah. That's awesome. Thank you so much, dude. It's such a pleasure meeting you. Brads again being the world champion. Thank you. It's I got a lot to learn using mouse. I got a lot of grief right now. What is he doing under the mouth?

This sounds like such a fun and insightful conversation Satya! It’s not every day you get to talk shop with someone at that level, especially in something as widely used as Excel.

Fifteen years ago, I began mastering Advanced Excel, and it remains the bedrock of my daily operations. Beyond the spreadsheets, it taught me to architect complex logic and transform intricate business problems into streamlined process automation. Even as the digital landscape shifts, Excel stands as Microsoft’s most irreplaceable tool for turning raw data into decisive, high-impact action✨️

What a day for competitive Excel! Thank you Satya Nadella for shining a light on our world champion. We are so proud to see Diarmuid Early sharing his story and passion for this sport. This spotlight means the world to us!

Recent advances in AI are truly unlocking human potential, empowering us to turn ideas into reality and build entirely new possibilities. Excited about what’s ahead.

Thanks Satya Nadella and Diarmuid Early !! I hope you enjoyed the case I created for the finals! I really thought of that “well, Excel is turning 40, what is still easier to do on paper than in Excel??” And then I came up with the “Origami” concept!! It seemed you guys had a great time!! Loved it! 🙏🏻

Excel skills are surprisingly crucial in the era of data-driven decision-making. Diarmuid's win highlights the growing recognition of advanced Excel users in business strategy and consulting. It's not just about crunching numbers anymore but about unlocking insights.

Governments run on Excel Companies run on Excel Economies run on Excel If Excel were to die the entire financial system as we know it would grind to a halt. Long live Excel 💚

Excel at that level is less a spreadsheet and more a decision system. Mastery like Diarmuid’s is a reminder that clear models, traceability, and disciplined assumptions still matter deeply, especially as more teams pair Excel with AI copilots. Great to see craftsmanship and rigor celebrated.

All Indians should be on top of the countries in AI and Other technologies. @

Diarmuid Early, I wish you continued success. I'm delighted by the well-deserved position you've reached.
