H.E. Mr. Raymond Serge BALÉ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Congo to India, accompanied by Mr. Gabriel Itoua, Economic Counsellor, and Ms. Smriti Malhotra, Secretary In Charge – Project Monitoring, Embassy of the Republic of the Congo, New Delhi, visited ICGEB New Delhi to explore opportunities for scientific collaboration and capacity building in biotechnology.
The delegation met with Dr. Lawrence Banks, Director-General of ICGEB, and Dr. Ramesh V. Sonti, Director, ICGEB New Delhi, to discuss potential avenues for cooperation and explore how ICGEB’s scientific expertise and international network could support the growth of the biotechnology sector in the Republic of the Congo.
During the visit, the delegation also interacted with the Group Leaders at ICGEB New Delhi, who presented an overview of their research programmes spanning human health, plant biotechnology, bioenergy, and computational biology. The discussions highlighted ICGEB’s state-of-the-art research facilities, scientific innovations, and its long-standing commitment to capacity building through advanced training, fellowships, and international collaborative programmes.
