Andrea Francolino is the featured artist of The Flag Project, the public art programme of the 2026 Festival del Paesaggio di Anacapri.

For this edition, the artist presents a new iteration of Humus, a project first exhibited in 2020 and created using natural materials such as jute, bamboo and earth. At Villa San Michele, three large-scale flags replace the Italian, Swedish and European flags, while nine flags dedicated to territories currently marked by armed conflict will accompany a shared, participatory walk open to the public.

Through a collective, silent and shared gesture, Humus transforms the flag from a symbol of national belonging into a vehicle for encounter and reflection. As the artist writes, the work entrusts the wind with “a wish for peace and reconciliation between people, landscapes and communities”.
