Appreciated this reflection by Brad Smith about AI's role as a general purpose technology, and how countries that accelerate its diffusion will be best positioned to expand access to opportunity and drive economic growth.

Brad Smith on LinkedIn

Brad Smith’s vision for AI as the next general-purpose technology (GPT) sparks an essential conversation not just about innovation, but about the readiness of our systems, communities, and even the environment to adapt. When we consider AI’s potential alongside electricity or the internet, it’s not just about what AI can do—it’s about how broadly and ethically we can make it accessible. Skilling the workforce and fostering trust aren’t just supportive measures; they’re the cornerstones of a future where AI benefits can truly reach everyone. Smith’s focus on regulatory interoperability and responsible governance acknowledges that AI’s success isn’t bound by tech alone but depends on coordinated, global actions. And as we consider sustainable AI, his points touch on a larger issue: can we innovate without deepening our environmental footprint? To make AI a positive force for the future, we’ll need to integrate it with our highest values, balancing growth with responsibility. #GeneralPurposeTech #AIDrivenInnovation #DigitalTransformation #SustainableTech #WorkforceDevelopment #GlobalCollaboration #Microsoft

Satya Nadella, thank you for sharing this insightful reflection. 🌍

Precise analysis, highlighting how general-purpose technologies (GPTs) require a strategic approach that transcends innovation control: the differentiator of the next technological revolution, driven by AI, will be the widespread and effective diffusion of its applications so that it reaches its true economic and social potential. In my view, a robust AI training plan, coupled with social acceptance, is imperative. Without coordinated initiatives to qualify the workforce and build public trust, any progress could be limited. We need to mobilize our public and private sectors to ensure that AI not only boosts productivity, but also promotes equity and inclusion.

Thank you for sharing this insightful perspective, Satya Nadella. It's encouraging to see leaders like you recognize the transformative potential of AI in driving economic growth and expanding opportunities globally.

Thank you for sharing this insightful reflection.

AI and its associated productivity increases are arguably the only way to free the western world from crippling levels of debt and growth driven by smoke and mirrors monetary policy. Europe in particular needs to get aboard the cloud and AI train. Quickly.

He used Ai to write the article. Commenters are using AI to respond. For this, Shareholders approved your $30M bonus. Be careful you don’t go too fast because then there will be no workers. But you didn’t think of that because you don’t work. You’re apart of the “work around the work” committee. Frankly AI should be used by workers to eliminate your job But the opposite is happening where people like you want to automate every skilled job to maximize your personal wealth You have the opportunity to do something for all of humanity. But either you’re too effing incompetent. Or you just don’t give a crap. Either way cool post man.
