The Valencia City Council, through its Valencia Innovation Capital initiative, has announced a new funding call aimed at supporting seed-stage startups established between January 2021 and June 2024. This year, the funding allocation has risen to €600,000, marking a significant increase from the €400,000 provided in the previous edition. This move underscores Valencia’s commitment to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and reinforces its strategy to position itself as a leading tech hub in Europe.
This initiative aims to foster a more inclusive, digital, and resilient city. It prioritizes innovative projects that not only advance technological development but also address global challenges from a sustainable perspective. With such measures, Valencia reaffirms its role as a talent catalyst and a driver of change in the European entrepreneurial landscape.
The selected projects will participate in an incubation and acceleration program, spearheaded by the Valencia City Council and Valencia Innovation Capital, in collaboration with Startup Valencia. This program is designed to provide comprehensive support to startups in their early stages—an especially critical phase marked by unique challenges. Entrepreneurs will gain access to essential resources such as specialized training, mentorship from experts, and a valuable network of contacts that can significantly impact their projects’ growth. Additionally, participants will have access to a dedicated workspace at La Harinera, the city’s municipal center for tech entrepreneurship.
Tailored specifically for high-growth-potential startups, the program not only offers financial backing but also provides the tools and expertise necessary to overcome the initial hurdles of technology-driven and innovation-led ventures.
The new funding call targets emerging startups working in strategic areas that align with the city’s development goals, including:
– Sustainability and solutions to mitigate and prevent natural disasters, such as the DANA storm experienced in Valencia
– Artificial Intelligence and advanced technological applications
– Health and Wellbeing, fostering innovation in the healthcare sector
– Gaming and digital entertainment
– Innovative and sustainable tourism, driving evolution within the sector
– SmartCity and GovTech, with a focus on smart cities and digital governance
– Diversity, Talent, and EdTech, tackling educational and social challenges through technology
Startups selected through this initiative will receive up to €25,000 to cover operational expenses as part of the incubation and acceleration program.
Applications are open until December 12, and those interested in participating can click here to apply.
