With the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the ICGEB offers early-career researchers from ICGEB Member States in Africa a six-month training opportunity at ICGEB laboratories in Italy, India, or South Africa.
This program allows participants to conduct research in pathogen detection and biosecurity within the BIO-GUARD framework.

Women scientists are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be early/mid-career scientist in the field of human or animal health (virology, microbiology, or related biological sciences) with a strong research background in infectious diseases, diagnostics, or biosafety/biosecurity. They must be affiliated with a research institute, university, or public health laboratory in their home country and demonstrate a commitment to applying newly acquired knowledge in their institution upon return.
Applicants are required to contact the ICGEB Group Leader of their choice with a motivation letter to discuss availability of lab space and to develop a research project proposal. A written statement from the ICGEB Group Leader you have contacted and who is willing to support your project is mandatory to apply.
