As part of its commitment to opening new markets for Valencia’s tech ecosystem, Startup Valencia, together with Valencia Innovation Capital from the Valencia City Council, has established a strategic alliance with the leading innovation and technology stakeholders in Medellín—one of the most dynamic innovation hubs in Latin America.
A direct bridge to the Latin American market: real opportunities for European startups in Colombia
This agreement opens up new opportunities for Valencia-based startups seeking to grow and scale in Latin America. Through this alliance, they will gain preferential access to the Colombian tech ecosystem, with real business, investment, and expansion opportunities. Startups will be able to participate in softlanding and internationalization programs in Medellín, designed to facilitate market entry and adaptation; validate their products and services in collaboration with local institutions; connect with key players such as Ruta N, ACI Medellín, OnGoing Impact Entrepreneurship Center at EAFIT University, Fedesoft, and investment funds like Ventures Comfama; and increase their international visibility through access to networking platforms with startups, corporations, and investors across the LATAM region.
The alliance will also help attract talent and investment to Valencia’s tech sector, positioning it as a gateway to the Spanish market and a point of entry into Europe for entrepreneurs, investors, and corporations. Many of them have already shown interest in programs that support their landing and implementation in Valencia, thanks to its vibrant tech ecosystem and the city’s undeniable quality of life—highlighted in various international rankings.
“This alliance is a true lever for our startups to access new markets, scale their projects, and connect with global talent and investment, generating real business,” says Nacho Mas, CEO of Startup Valencia.
“This is a bet on building strong bridges between ecosystems that share common values. Medellín and Valencia have the ambition and the talent to lead the next generation of innovative cities,” adds Krloos Rivera, Strategic Advisor at Startup Valencia.
A long-term vision
The alliance marks another step in consolidating Valencia as a strategic hub for tech investment and international collaboration. With this initiative, Startup Valencia reaffirms its commitment to public-private cooperation and to fostering global opportunities for the city’s entrepreneurial community.
The alliance was formalized through a collaboration agreement signed by Paula Llobet, Valencia City Council for Innovation, Investment Attraction, and Tourism, and María Fernanda Galeano Rojo, Secretary of Economic Development of Medellín. This marks the first international partnership between Valencia and the Latin American innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
