This week, Almar Water Solutions participated as a Bronze Sponsor at PPP Americas, the leading event in Latin America and the Caribbean focused on public-private partnerships (PPPs), organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Held from April 8 to 10, 2025, the event underscored the essential role of PPPs in advancing sustainable development across key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and most notably, water and sanitation.
With a history spanning eleven previous editions in countries such as the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Spain, PPP Americas has become a vital platform for knowledge exchange and strategic collaboration among public and private stakeholders, fostering regional cooperation and international visibility for high-impact projects.
Representing Almar Water Solutions, Alonso Zapata Álvarez, Director of Business Development for Latin America, joined the panel “Partnerships for Water and Sanitation: Revolutionizing Essential Service Provision.” The session addressed the opportunities and challenges facing the water sector and highlighted how public-private collaboration can drive innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and mobilize the necessary resources to close existing service gaps across the region.
The event covered a wide range of critical topics, including:
- Innovative financial models for PPPs, such as blended finance mechanisms and private capital mobilization.
- Non-conventional PPPs, including the management of natural spaces and environmental resources.
- Financing roundtables focused on risk mitigation and fiscal sustainability.
- The presentation of national PPP project portfolios, with particular emphasis on Peru’s pipeline.
In this context, Almar Water Solutions reaffirmed its strategic interest in Peru, a country expected to launch numerous private initiatives in the coming years to address the substantial water and sanitation access gap. This vision is supported by Almar Water Services Latam, the company’s regional services platform, through which it develops water and sanitation projects in Peru, Chile, and other Latin American countries, offering tailored solutions through efficient, technology-driven, and integrated management.
Almar’s presence at PPP Americas reflects its unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable water infrastructure through robust public-private partnerships, contributing to a more resilient and equitable future for Latin America and the Caribbean.
