Young people and adults come together in the Senate to discuss challenges and opportunities of digital media.
The Senate Palace in Madrid was the setting for the Conference on the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments, a key event that brought together leaders and experts from different sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing minors in the digital environment.
The study published by Fundación Orange together with Save the Children, with the technical support of GAD3, the event was attended by leading figures such as Pedro Rollán, President of the Senate; Meinrad Spenger, CEO of the MasOrange group and trustee of Fundación Orange; Andrés Conde, general manager of Save the Children and Narciso Michavila, President of GAD3. Experts from various fields such as education, health and technology, as well as key players from the third sector, also participated.
The event was opened by Pedro Rollán, President of the Senate, who stressed the need for a comprehensive debate on the protection of minors in the digital environment. The closing speech was given by Rubén Pérez, Secretary of State for Youth and Children, highlighting the importance of a solid regulatory framework to guarantee the digital safety of children and adolescents.
The day also included round tables and intergenerational debates, where teenagers shared their experiences and concerns about the use of technology. In addition, representatives from leading technology companies such as Ericsson, Google Spain and Meta discussed innovative solutions for the digital protection of minors.

Scope: National (Spain)
Method of administration: Computer-assisted online survey (CAWI).
Sample size: 2,510 interviews with the following distribution:
Sampling error: ±2.0% (n=2,510); ±3.0% (n=1,145); ±3.9% (n=648); ±4.5% (n=506); ±7.1% (n=201); for a confidence level of 95.5% (two sigmas) and under the worst-case scenario of P=Q=0.5 in the simple random sampling assumption.
Interview duration: 5-7 minutes approximately.
Fieldwork dates: 12-18 November 2024.
