  • Bitpanda is taking the next big step in Tennis: becoming the title sponsor and naming partner of the prestigious ATP 500 tournament held at the Rothenbaum in Hamburg, now officially called the Bitpanda Hamburg Open.
  • The iconic ATP 500 event kicks off on 17 May 2025 and will bring world-class tennis to Hamburg, featuring global stars such as world number one Jannik Sinner and 13 additional players from the current ATP Top 30.
  • Bitpanda made an impact even before the official announcement, lighting up downtown Hamburg with oversized projections during the OMR Festival – one of the largest international conferences for digital marketing and technology.

Hamburg, May 7, 2024 – The Hamburg Open, one of the most prestigious and historic ATP 500 tournaments in the world, has announced Bitpanda, Europe’s leading crypto broker, as its new title sponsor. Starting today, the tournament will be officially named “Bitpanda Hamburg Open”. Held at the iconic Rothenbaum venue, the Hamburg Open has built a legacy as Germany’s longest-standing tennis tournament and a fan-favorite in the global clay. This marks the first time the Vienna-based company takes on title sponsorship of an ATP tournament – writing a new chapter in the over 100-year history of the Hamburg event.

Eric Demuth, CEO and Co-Founder of Bitpanda, commented: “I remember this tournament from when I was a young boy chasing autographs from my idols. I’m glad that this fantastic ATP 500 event still takes place here in the North. It’s

a tournament that attracts international top stars and sets a real highlight just one week before Roland Garros. That speaks volumes for the city and for this unique venue, which holds many great memories for me.”

From May 17 to 24, 2025, the Bitpanda Hamburg Open will host a world class tournament with an incredible line up led by Jannik Sinner, first time a World No. 1 will be playing in Hamburg since 2008, Lorenzo Musetti, 2022 Hamburg champion who just broke into the Top 10, and Holger Rune, recent winner of the ATP 500 Barcelona Open. Also joining the stellar field are 2-time Grand Slam finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas; top ranked Americans Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe; and Masters 1000 winner and 2020 Hamburg champion Andrey Rublev — bringing the total to a spectacular three Top-10 and 14 Top-30 players roster.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bitpanda to our great family of partners as the title sponsor of our tournament,” said Enric Molina Mur, Tournament Director of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open and Partner of Tennium, the event organizer. “This partnership is a sign of trust and no doubt strengthens our tournament in line with our vision to grow the event by continued investments for the benefit of all stakeholders involved. Bitpanda, a renowned leading international company, shares our passion for tennis and brings an innovative perspective that will contribute to the continued success and growth of the tournament.”

To announce the title sponsorship, Bitpanda once again took an unconventional approach: on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the brand projected its new Bitpanda Hamburg Open logo onto buildings across the city. The timing was no coincidence – it coincided with the OMR Festival, one of Europe’s largest digital marketing and tech conferences.

This sponsorship underscores Bitpanda’s growing commitment to tennis. In addition to being an official partner of the ATP Tour, Bitpanda supports top players like Alexander Zverev, Stan Wawrinka, and Dominic Thiem, and is also a proud sponsor of leading football clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and FC Basel.
