TechBBQ has become one of the most prominent tech events in the Nordics. How has it evolved to become an international benchmark for startups, investors, and corporations?

It’s been an amazing journey. We’ve grown with the Danish ecosystem and become a hub for both European and international stakeholders. From a small event, we now attract over 10,000 attendees, including investors, founders, and corporates. We’ve created a space to showcase what Europe has to offer on a global stage.

The next edition of TechBBQ will take place on August 27–28, 2025, in Copenhagen. What new themes or highlights can attendees look forward to?

We’ll have a “Day Zero” on the 26th focused entirely on investors. The theme continues to be connecting entrepreneurship with local communities. We’re founder-centric, so everything we do is about supporting and empowering founders. We’re also highlighting life sciences, thanks to support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, as well as our ongoing smart city and urban tech projects.

Valencia has become one of Europe’s most dynamic tech ecosystems. What opportunities do you see for collaboration between the Nordic and Valencia ecosystems?

Valencia shines with talent. There’s a lot of potential for talent mobility across Europe. Valencia is on track to become a global hub. With great weather and a thriving community, it’s a perfect place to attract and retain talent. We just need to build more bridges between our ecosystems — and events like VDS or TechBBQ are ideal platforms to do so.

What role do international tech events like VDS and TechBBQ play in attracting talent and investment?

These events are crucial. In an age dominated by tech, it’s important not to lose human connection. Events like these bring people together to have real conversations — not just digital ones. That’s how talent finds companies, investors find startups, and ecosystems grow. We see ourselves as the bridge between humanity and technology.

One of TechBBQ’s core values is fostering authentic conversations. How do you preserve that spirit, and what can ecosystems like Spain’s learn from it?

Spain already has a strong culture of community and hospitality. That’s a huge strength. Valencia, with its sunshine and warmth, feels close-knit — just like Copenhagen, which is considered the happiest city in Europe. At TechBBQ, we believe every third handshake should matter. Real human interaction is the foundation for collaboration, investment, and growth.

What advice would you give a Valencia startup looking to expand into the Nordic market?

Collaborate and amplify your brand through platforms like VDS and Startup Valencia. Use these events to connect with Nordic partners. I’d love to see 10 Valencia startups at TechBBQ next year, looking for co-founders, investors, or customers in Denmark. There’s so much opportunity — just bridge the gap and showcase your value.
