The high-growth tech companies and investors platform EsTech, together with the Spanish Association for the Digital Economy (Adigital), will hold the 3rd Scalability Day on 23 October, the annual meeting that highlights the impact of scaleups on the economy, productivity and the international leadership of Spain and Europe.
This edition of Scalability Day is particularly relevant as it will take place within VDS, one of Europe’s leading international tech events. The alliance between EsTech, Adigital and Startup Valencia strengthens the European entrepreneurial ecosystem at a key moment, as scaleups have become central to the continent’s institutional agenda.
Organisations such as Clikalia, BME and Shakers, along with leaders from some of Spain’s flagship tech companies, will bring the European conversation to Valencia under the theme “Fast Track Competitiveness: The European Scaleup Momentum.” Scalability Day will feature representatives of European bodies and associations actively shaping the future framework that positions these companies and investment as drivers of economic growth and competitiveness across the continent.
“For Spain to consolidate its role as a digital hub in Europe, it is essential for scaleups to grow without barriers within the single market. A harmonised EU‑level response is key to preventing talent and investment from seeking better conditions outside the Union,” says Alister Moreno, president of EsTech.
Along the same lines, Nacho Mas, CEO of Startup Valencia and VDS, points out that “Valencia has established itself as one of Europe’s most dynamic tech hubs, demonstrating the potential of mid‑sized cities to develop innovative ecosystems. Unlike other countries, Spain has a network of complementary regional hubs covering diverse innovation areas, which gives the country strategic value. Combined with an excellent quality of life and climate, it’s no surprise that international tech events like VDS attract ever more talent and global investment.”
European Strategy for Startups and Scaleups
With the goal of boosting the growth and consolidation of Europe’s tech sector, last March Adigital, together with Startup Valencia, SpainCap, TechBarcelona, Endeavor and the EsTech companies, presented a set of public‑policy recommendations during the consultation process for the European Strategy for Startups and Scaleups put forward by the European Commission.
Key initiatives include the creation of a Strategic Business Recovery Fund, encouragement of collaboration between large companies and startups, and the incorporation of regional clusters, such as those in Valencia and Barcelona, into European innovation policies, in line with the Scalability Plan presented at the previous Scalability Day.
Throughout this process, EsTech has viewed Spain as a key country to lead the future of Europe’s tech industry, thanks to its advanced policies, the role of its founders, its connections with other regions and the consolidation of regional hubs. For this reason, it has made this vision the central theme of the new Scalability Day edition.
