Tennium is proud to announce that Joao Fonseca (ATP-42) will compete in the 2025 European Open, taking place from October 12–19 at Palais 12 in Brussels. In its landmark tenth edition, the tournament welcomes one of the brightest young talents on the ATP Tour. The 19-year-old Brazilian will make his debut in what promises to be an unforgettable week of world-class tennis.

Fonseca joins an already impressive player field featuring Roland Garros semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti (ATP-9), former champion Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP-13), former finalist Arthur Fils (ATP-23), and Belgian favorites David Goffin (ATP-87) and Zizou Bergs (ATP-46).

Recognized as one of the sport’s rising stars, Joao Fonseca has quickly made headlines with his powerful game and dynamic presence on court. His breakout season in 2025 began with a remarkable win over world No. 9 Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open. He followed that up with his first ATP title in Buenos Aires and a Challenger title in Phoenix, confirming his status as one of the most promising players on tour.

Since its inception, the European Open has welcomed some of the biggest names in tennis – from Sinner to Murray, Wawrinka to Gasquet, offering fans a mix of established champions and emerging talent. This year, under the management of Tennium, the tournament continues that legacy by providing a stage for the stars of tomorrow.

Dick Norman, Tournament Director, commented: “For this special edition, we’re thrilled to welcome a player of Joao Fonseca’s caliber. He is an exceptional talent and very likely the future of modern tennis. His participation highlights our ongoing mission to showcase the champions of tomorrow. It’s a unique opportunity for Belgian fans to see him live and experience an unforgettable tennis atmosphere.”

Joao Fonseca shared his excitement: “I’m extremely excited to play in Brussels for the first time. As you all know, this is my first year playing the bigger tournaments on tour, and it’s been really special to discover new places, sites and events. I’ve been to Belgium before and had a great time, now I’m looking forward to playing an ATP event here and connecting with the local crowd.”

With a stellar player lineup and a new venue in the heart of Brussels, the 2025 European Open organized by Tennium is set to be one of the highlights of the tennis calendar.
