BNP Paribas Fortis European Open: Tennium Opens a New Chapter in Brussels
Tennium, the international organizer of the tournament, announces the tenth edition of the European Open, which will take place from October 12 to 19, 2025, in Brussels under its new name, the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open. This edition marks a milestone in the tournament’s history, combining a change of venue with a new title sponsor, strengthening the event’s international profile and its prestige on the global tennis calendar.
After nine successful editions in Antwerp, Belgium’s most important tennis tournament moves to the capital to offer an even more engaging experience for players, fans, and sponsors. The Palais 12, Brussels Expo, will serve as the new venue, a modern facility fully designed to ensure spectators enjoy every match with comfort and excitement.
A World-Class Tournament
The BNP Paribas Fortis European Open 2025 will feature a perfect balance of international stars and rising talents, delivering high-level matches and unforgettable moments for fans. Confirmed players include Lorenzo Musetti (ATP-9), Roland Garros semifinalist and top-10 player; Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP-13), former US Open semifinalist and 2022 European Open champion; Frances Tiafoe (ATP-29), former top-10 player and recent Roland Garros quarterfinalist; and João Fonseca (ATP-42), a 19-year-old Brazilian talent widely regarded as one of tennis’s brightest rising stars. Representing Belgium will be David Goffin (ATP-87) and Zizou Bergs (ATP-46), joined by young prospects Raphaël Collignon (ATP-91) and Gilles-Arnaud Bailly (ATP-279), who enter the main draw with wild cards.
A Forward-Looking Commitment
Beyond elite competition, the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open aims to bring tennis closer to the community through themed days and activities for families, students, children, and seniors, as well as initiatives like Street Tennis, which will take the sport to the heart of Brussels. For Tennium, the move to the capital represents a strategic step and an opportunity for growth and consolidation.
As Kristoff Puelinckx, CEO of Tennium, explains, this edition marks a new chapter in the tournament’s history: “We are deeply grateful to our partners, sponsors, and rights holders whose trust has made this new stage possible. For us, this first edition in Brussels is a unique opportunity: we want to deliver a world-class tournament while laying the foundations for the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open to continue growing in the future. At the same time, we continue advancing our mission at Tennium to create a global platform connecting players, fans, and partners around the world.”
On the sporting side, Dick Norman, Tournament Director, highlighted the combination of established talent and rising stars that will excite the Belgian public: “With Lorenzo Musetti, Roland Garros semifinalist and a top-10 player, we are bringing world-class talent to Belgium. Félix Auger-Aliassime arrives after a strong season, leaving his mark on our courts, and we are thrilled to introduce João Fonseca, a young player destined to shape the future of tennis. And of course, we are excited to see our Belgian heroes, Goffin and Bergs, competing in front of their home crowd. Alongside them, we want to give space to the next generation of Belgian talents, including Collignon and Bailly.”
Looking to the Future
The BNP Paribas Fortis European Open 2025 not only celebrates ten years of history but also inaugurates a new phase for Belgian tennis. From Tennium, the organization continues to build a project that combines elite sport, innovation, and social engagement, with the goal of establishing Brussels as an international sports capital and offering a tournament that connects players, fans, and sponsors worldwide.
“We are confident that this edition in Brussels will be a turning point for the tournament, allowing it to continue growing and strengthening its international presence in professional tennis,” concluded Kristoff Puelinckx.
