ICGEB New Delhi Triumphs at NBEC 2025 in Clean & Renewable Energy Category!

The Yeast Biofuel Group team from ICGEB New Delhi has been named as one of the national winners in the Clean & Renewable Energy category at the prestigious National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC) 2025.
Comprised of two members of the Yeast Biofuel Group — Mr. Garvit Sharma, a fourth-year PhD scholar, and Dr. Mohit Kumar, Research Associate — the ICGEB team was selected from over 1,050 teams across India. After progressing through multiple competitive rounds, the team reached the final stage with 9 selected teams and ultimately secured a spot among the top 6 national winners.
The award was presented by Padma Shri Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited, during the grand finale event held in Bangalore.
About NBEC 2025
The National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC) is one of India’s largest platforms for emerging bio-entrepreneurs. The 2025 edition was jointly organized by Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), Bangalore and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (DBT-BIRAC)
The competition is designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors.
Participation Highlights:
