Unapologetically Jewish Org Files Human Rights Complaints Against Cities of Montreal and Toronto

Unapologetically Jewish, a newly formed grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and amplifying the voices of Canadian Jews, today announced that it has filed a Human Rights complaint against city officials responsible for policing in Montreal and Toronto. The complaint addresses the failure to adequately safeguard Canadian Jews from the growing wave of antisemitism across the country.

Representing Canadian Jews directly affected by harassment, discrimination, and threats motivated by antisemitism, Unapologetically Jewish is demanding accountability and systemic action to ensure Jewish Canadians can live safely and freely in their communities.

"Today we are announcing formal human rights complaints against officials who have a responsibility to keep citizens safe, " said Matthew Taub, Founder of Unapologetically Jewish Org. "They're not doing that."

The organization cites a rising tide of antisemitic incidents in schools, workplaces, and public spaces, including attacks on Jewish students, threats targeting community organizations, and public figures making antisemitic statements with little accountability.

"My advocacy began at the grassroots: documenting hate, challenging leaders, and standing before the Toronto Police Board when our community was ignored. From filing police reports to building networks across Canada, my work has always been about one thing: ensuring Jews are not just defended but empowered to live openly and unapologetically," continued Taub.

Unapologetically Jewish calls on all levels of government to prioritize the safety and inclusion of Jewish Canadians and to ensure policies and practices are in place to prevent further harm.
