EDU_CLIMATE aims to create a climate adaptation training with whom the students of our VET centres can learn about climate adaptation, changing their view and future actions in aspects such as use of new crops in cooking, development of new recipes, adequate prevention of natural disasters and their effects at personal and professional level for cooks.

In EDU_CLIMATE we aim to develop a course, taught via an app, of EFQ4 level, to teach our culinary VET students about climate change adaptation. We want them to change and improve their behaviour regarding climate change, using new crops, diets, water administration, and other relevant aspects of climate change adaptation in culinary arts.

Climate change is part of the European Council 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal (EU countries should achieve climate-neutrality by 2050). To achieve this aim, the Commission stablished two types of strategies to fight climate change. Mitigation strategies aim to reduce the emissions of citizens, teaching which aspects to avoid in their daily life. Adaptation strategies are focused on reducing the risks that come from climate change, diminishing the vulnerability of citizens, and helping them learn how to live in our current reality.

With EDU_CLIMATE, we aim to introduce climate change adaptation in VET education. We will develop a series of training materials and tools to assist VET trainers in their role of explanators of adaptation strategies to their students. The EDU_CLIMATE project will produce a web app through which VET students will access to different adaptation strategies and training created by the consortium, encouraging the education of a generation less vulnerable to climate change.

The project has the following objectives:

1. Educate our students and teachers about climate change adaptation, so that they change their behaviour and integrate adaptative actions in their life and work.

2. Reduce vulnerability to climate change in VET education actors (VET trainers, VET students, VET centres), providing an adequate training that facilitates their understanding on how to act in specific situations.

3. Ensure climate change adaptation can be integrated in our VET centres, promoting the use of the EDU_CLIMATE app and a change of behaviour by trainers and students.

4. Adapt VET education to the real needs of the current climate situation.

5. Collaborate in the European Green Deal aims through climate change education, and in the EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change.

To achieve them, the consortium will create:

· EDU_CLIMATE app: mobile app with educational content on climate change adaptation, generated through short knowledge pills and practical activities that will educate learners through a practical approach. The theoretical content will also be available to trainers in a written document.

· EDU_CLIMATE Outreach: plan for VET centres on the introduction of climate change adaptation strategies in the daily routines of the centre, using the EDU_CLIMATE app as vehicle. The Outreach manual will not only be key in introducing the app, but also in helping VET centres introduce other related climate change adaptation strategies not included in the app.

· EDU_CLIMATE piloting: piloting and assessing activities that will test the quality, usefulness and adequacy of the EDU_CLIMATE methodology, while serving to future VET centres implementing the methodology as trial plan and quality control check.
