#ESA’s Euclid space telescope has captured a breathtaking image of young stars forming in the dark nebula #LDN1641 within #Orion.

Using its Near-Infrared Spectro-Photometer (#NISP), Euclid looked through cosmic dust to reveal magenta outflows , unmistakable signs of stellar birth and even distant #galaxies beyond the #MilkyWay.
OHB Italia S.p.A. developed Euclid’s advanced electronics payload, the #brain of the spacecraft, and built the #grismwheel for the NISP instrument, enabling precise #wavelength selection.

Euclid orbits 1.5 million km from Earth at Lagrangian Point 2 (#L2), the same region where the James Webb Space Telescope is located. Here, the gravitational forces of the Earth and Sun balance each other, offering an exceptionally stable observation point for deep-space exploration.
Designed to map the geometry of the
#Universe and study its accelerated expansion, Euclid will operate for about six years, with one of its main goals being to uncover the mysterious nature of #darkmatter and #darkenergy.
This mission reflects a strong Italian contribution, with key roles played by
hashtag#ASI (Italian Space Agency), #INAF#INFN, several Italian universities and OHB Italia S.p.A.
Euclid’s latest image not only opens a new window on the hidden Universe but also celebrates the excellence of European cooperation and Italian technological innovation.
