Amaro (Udine), Italy, July 28, 2026 – Eurotech today announced it has joined the Edge for Smart Secondary Substations (E4S) Alliance as an Executive Member. E4S is a DSO-led international initiative created to develop a standard, flexible, manageable, and interoperable edge computing platform for next-generation smart grids. By bringing together the largest distribution system operators in Europe with technology providers, E4S aims to digitize the grid, reduce total cost of ownership, and accelerate the deployment of new applications for the management and delivery of electricity.
Eurotech will contribute its expertise in European-designed edge AI and IoT hardware, IEC 62443- 4-2 certified platforms, and open-source software as maintainer of Eclipse Kura and Eclipse Kapua, two leading projects of the Eclipse IoT ecosystem. Eurotech’s participation reinforces its commitment to open standards, code sovereignty, and cybersecure solutions for critical infrastructure, in full alignment with E4S’s mission to move the energy industry from proprietary silos toward open, interoperable architectures.
