This summer, Charo Esquiva, one of Tennium’s athletes, took meaningful steps forward in her development through consistent participation in high-level junior competitions.
Over the past few months, she competed in three junior Grand Slam tournaments, including Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open, as well as the European U18 Team Championships, where she represented Spain. The summer calendar was intense and offered the opportunity to adapt to different surfaces, formats and levels of pressure. These challenges became important building blocks in her evolution as a player.
Charo’s journey began on the clay courts of Roland Garros Junior. The surface suited her well, and the tournament gave her a chance to confirm the progress she’s been making. Her run ended in a tightly contested match against the world’s top-ranked junior, a valuable test that highlighted her ability to compete with the best and extract key lessons from every match.
From Paris, she moved on to her first appearance at Wimbledon Junior. The transition to grass was a new experience, but she managed it with composure and intelligence. Her matches reflected a strong tactical understanding and an adaptable mindset, qualities that stood out throughout the tournament.
In New York, at the US Open Junior, she delivered her most consistent performance of the season. Competing on hard court, she found stability in her game and responded well to the demands of the environment. Match after match, she showed confidence and balance, consolidating her growth both technically and mentally.
In parallel with the individual tournaments, Charo also played a key role for Spain at the European U18 Team Championships. She won all her singles matches and contributed significantly to the team’s progress to the final. The title narrowly slipped away, but the experience was positive on both a personal and team level, adding another layer of maturity to her competitive profile.
At the end of this summer stretch, Charo reached her highest junior world ranking so far, breaking into the Top 10. It is a milestone that reflects her steady progress and also the potential that remains ahead, with another year to continue competing in this category.
At Tennium, we are proud to support Charo in her journey. As one of our athletes, she embodies the work ethic and focus that define long-term development. We would also like to thank our partners New Balance, Yonex, TM Grupo Inmobiliario and Alten for their continued commitment and contribution to the growth of young players.
