#COMETINTERCEPTOR | FIT-CHECK ACTIVITY COMPLETED
In the past few days a fit-check between the #ProbeB1 SQM (provided by #JAXA and visible in the background of the picture) and the Comet Interceptor #DustShield SM was completed in the OHB Italia S.p.A.‘s Clean Room of Milan.
This de-risking activity, involving no flight hardware, was aimed at verifying the #mechanicalintegration between the two elements.
The operations were performed with JAXA personnel on site, while #ESA representatives attended as observers: a great example of international #collaboration in support of an innovative scientific mission
Comet Interceptor is an ESA F-class mission designed to study, for the first time, a dynamically new #comet or interstellar object, offering a unique opportunity to advance our understanding of the primitive bodies of the Solar System.
A valuable #milestone, a great #team, a strong and productive #synergy.
