As the year comes to a close, it feels like the right moment to pause and reflect. We’d like to share a few key takeaways.
Starting with our textile waste management activities
- Our waste management capacity has grown substantially, and we have also expanded our network for waste valorisation.
- We are in the midst of a transition towards Coleo’s future model, focused on post-consumer textiles, which for the first time have surpassed industrial waste in volume.
- We are actively involved in shaping Extended Producer Responsibility across all the countries where we operate and are already working with several European PROs.
- On the demand side, while there has been some improvement, we have not yet seen the level of momentum that Europe truly needs. A real push from regulators is essential to make this happen: ecodesign must play a central role and be properly balanced with EPR frameworks.
- We have continued to strengthen our commitment to France, a country leading the way in textile sustainability. The first of several initiatives already underway is Recyclocal Textiles, which began operations a few weeks ago and incorporates our industrial, technological and social expertise.
- In parallel, we have taken part in forums, debates, events, and training and outreach initiatives, contributing to the industry’s transition. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
Technology – Wastex
- Our tech team has grown to include new engineers, data scientists and developers, strengthening our technological capabilities. Today, a team of 13 people is leading the development of technology for circular textiles.
- We have successfully completed our first machinery installations outside Spain, marking an important step in our international expansion.
- We have been working intensively on the development of several disruptive technologies that will significantly help scale the capacity of Coleo’s waste management plants in 2026. These developments address key challenges such as automated disassembly; the detection of new attributes impacting the quality of recycled materials (for both mechanical and chemical recycling); RFID-enabled identification and logistics; and the automated feeding of sorting machines. Much more to come!
- Last but not least, our traceability solutions have been widely deployed, helping to trace and upcycle more than 7,000 tonnes of textile waste in 2025 across Spain, France and Morocco.
Consumer products
- We have continued to build strong relationships with both small and large companies and brands, bringing more than 3 million garments to market under the highest sustainability standards.
- We have been recognised with several awards, but we would especially like to highlight the Ecodesign Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya 2025, which recognises our coat made from 100% recycled materials and designed to be fully recyclable, with circularity at its core.
- Coleo has also gained visibility through product labels and communication campaigns with leading fashion brands, consolidating our position as a trusted partner and industry leader for brands committed to responsible practices.
We are very proud and satisfied with the results of the activities launched and developed throughout 2025, and we look to 2026 with optimism. The introduction of EPR in several countries, progress on ESPR, and, above all, a more conscious consumer give us strong motivation to move forward.
Thank you to everyone working towards the transformation of the industry, and to those who believe in our work. We wish you all a great end of the year and all the best for the year ahead.
